Google profit increase points to tech sector recovery

Internet giant Google today reported a 37 per cent rise in first quarter net profit - beating Wall Street expectations and boosting hopes of a revival in the technology sector. In the first three months of the year the search giant saw profits rise to $1.96bn (£1.3bn) - up from the $1.42bn it made in the same period in 2009.
